The Weather and Climate Information Services (WISER) Africa Co-Production Fellowship, supported by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) under the Africa Regional Climate and Nature (ARCAN) programme, is now accepting applications for its 2025 cohort meant for early-career researcher or professional from East, West, or Southern Africa passionate about climate resilience and collaborative innovation.

About the Fellowship
This prestigious fellowship seeks three dynamic early-career professionals—one from each African region (East, West, and Southern Africa)—who are committed to advancing transdisciplinary co-production of weather and climate services.

Fellows will collaborate with national and regional institutions to champion innovative, community-driven climate solutions and foster resilience through localized knowledge and scientific integration.

What Fellows Will Do:

• Serve as regional champions of co-production within the WISER programme

• Work closely with National Meteorological and Hydrological Services and Regional Climate Centres

• Facilitate community and stakeholder engagement to co-design development funding priorities

• Conduct research in areas such as stakeholder engagement, indigenous knowledge, or climate communication

• Participate in cross-regional peer learning and training sessions

Host Locations:

• West Africa: Hosted at AGRHYMET, Niamey, Niger

• East Africa: Open to applicants from Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, and Uganda

• Southern Africa: Open to nationals of Angola, Botswana, Comoros, DRC, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
