If you’re between 18 and 25 years old, passionate about civic engagement, and currently living in Europe, a life-changing adventure awaits you on the open sea. The Farmont Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2025 Summer Academy — a unique 10-day sailing journey that combines hands-on sailing experience, deep discussions, and cross-cultural exchange along the stunning Turkish coast and nearby Greek islands.

Each year, the Farmont Summer School brings together a small group of young people from across Europe for an immersive experience like no other. This isn’t just a holiday at sea — it’s a purposeful journey where every moment matters. Living together on a sailing boat means navigating more than just the waves. Participants will work as a team, cook meals, raise sails, and most importantly, engage in powerful conversations about the future of Europe and our shared responsibilities as global citizens.

The theme for the 2025 edition is “Small Acts. Big Impact.” It’s a call to reflect on how the simplest gestures — a shift in mindset, a kind word, a bold suggestion — can create lasting change. In a world filled with overwhelming challenges, the Farmont Foundation believes in the ripple effect of individual actions. The sailing school will take place during two separate journeys: from September 18 to 27, and again from October 7 to 16, 2025. Each trip includes five participants and an experienced crew. All costs — including travel, meals, and accommodation — are fully covered by the Farmont Foundation, making it accessible to passionate youth regardless of financial background.

To apply, you must be a resident of Europe (as defined by current and potential EU member states), and either a student in full-time education or a young professional. Previous civic engagement — such as volunteer work or activism — is required, along with a solid command of English and a willingness to live and work closely with others.

The application process includes a CV, a completed application form, a session proposal (under 1,900 characters), and a short video answering how you’d contribute to a close-knit community on a boat with no internet, shared responsibilities, and cultural diversity. The deadline to apply is May 14, 2025.
