The 2025–2026 Africa Fellows in Education Program is now accepting applications. Young African researchers who are driven to advance education and might use more assistance are encouraged to express interest in AFEP by the Global Education Analytics Institute (GEAI) in partnership with PEP.
The fellows can take part in a two-year research and policy development fellowship through AFEP, which exposes them to international networks of academics and policy advisers as well as pertinent research and analytical experiences.

Program Benefits
The funding provides a $35K research grant in cash. Additionally, the program will cover up to $25K in expenses for mentorship, study visits, conference travel, and in-country workshops to disseminate research findings and offer training.
Eligibility Criteria
be a citizen of a nation in Sub-Saharan Africa;
possess an MA or PhD degree with a strong emphasis on education, ideally in economics, education policy, social/public policy, development studies, or international development. GEAI and PEP promote recent PhD graduates who can gain from mentorship and further training to become strong researchers, even though a PhD is not required;
possess a solid understanding of data analysis software, such as R and Stata, and be skilled in quantitative data analysis;
not surpass the age of 35;
Show an interest in researching and analysing education policy; Be employed by the government or affiliated with a research or higher education institution in a Sub-Saharan African nation, and plan to remain employed there for the foreseeable future;
Women who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply.
