FULLY FUNDED: Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MSc-HPE) 2026 – University of Global Health Equity (UGHE), Rwanda

Applications are open for the fully funded Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MSc-HPE) 2026 at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) in Rwanda!

This 18-month, three-semester blended programme — offered both online and in person — is designed for health education professionals and academic leaders across Africa. Supported by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, it aims to develop a new generation of leaders equipped to design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality health professions education. The MSc-HPE focuses on equity, innovation, and leadership, preparing educators to transform health education systems on the continent.

Program Benefits
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE offers a fully funded scholarship that covers tuition, accommodation, travel, and learning materials. Participants will engage in a blended learning experience combining online coursework with immersive in-person sessions in Rwanda.

Students will also gain access to global health education networks, mentorship from world-class faculty, and a community of educators committed to transforming health professions education across Africa. Graduates will be well-prepared for roles as educators, curriculum leaders, institutional administrators, and quality assurance experts in health education.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be citizens, residents, or refugees from an African country and be 35 years of age or younger at the time of application (exceptions apply for applicants with disabilities). A Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is required, along with submission of official transcripts and certificates.

Candidates should have professional experience in teaching, educational leadership, or supervision within a health-related higher education setting. However, early-career educators with strong potential for teaching and leadership are also encouraged to apply. Applicants who already hold a Master’s degree are not eligible under the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program for this track.

Applicants must also provide a signed and stamped recommendation letter from their employing institution confirming institutional support and dedicated time to participate in the programme’s online and in-person learning sessions.
