Applications are open for the second edition of the Climate Action Innovation Hub, which will take place during the Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa from 8 to 10 September 2025. The opportunity welcomes both returning participants from the inaugural event and newcomers eager to showcase their ideas. All interested individuals are encouraged to complete the online application form provided. Submissions must be made by 01 August 2025. Applications received after this deadline will not be reviewed.

This upcoming phase follows the initial launch held in Nairobi in September 2023, where the African Union Commission introduced the Innovation Hub to spotlight African-born solutions addressing climate challenges. That pilot attracted over 2,000 entries, primarily from young people across the continent, and culminated in 70 selected innovators presenting their work at the Summit. The strong turnout reflected the depth of talent and the urgent need for both technical and financial backing to bring many of these innovations to life.

In 2025, the initiative will prioritize participation from young people and women, aiming to broaden its regional reach and strengthen support for project development. It aligns with the broader objectives of the African Union’s ten-year Climate Change and Resilient Development Strategy and Action Plan, with a focus on sustainability, inclusive progress, and grassroots innovation.

Up to 70 applicants will be selected to take part in the Addis Ababa event, where they will have their travel costs, accommodation, meals, and local transport covered. Visa assistance will also be arranged where needed. Participants are expected to be available from 7 to 11 September to allow for both the event and related engagements. In preparation, chosen candidates will receive training and guidance to help them make the most of the experience.

While there are no guaranteed financial awards beyond the coverage of participation expenses, there is an ambition to offer additional support, such as mentorship, skills development, and linkages to potential partners or investors.
