Applying for the ISTernship Summer Programme, which runs for two to three months at the Institute of Science and Technology of Austria in Vienna, Austria, is a great opportunity for all foreign students and recent graduates. All interns participating in the fully financed ISTernship programme do so in collaboration with OeAD, the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research.

About  ISTA

Situated in Maria Gogging, Klosterneuburg, 20 km northwest of Vienna, the capital of Austria, the Institute of Science and Technology of Austria is an international research institute in the natural and mathematical sciences. The Austrian Federal Government and the Lower Austria Provincial Government founded and inaugurated it in 2009.

Concerning the Intern Programme

The Institute of Science and Technology of Austria (ISTA) offers a summer internship programme called ISTernship (pronounced "IST-" + "(int)ernship"). Bachelor's and Master's students interested in biology, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, neuroscience, and multidisciplinary fields can apply for ISTernships, which provide research opportunities in these fields.

Selected applicants join the programme each summer to collaborate closely on a brief research project with ISTA faculty or a lab member. The ISTernship programme was initially launched in 2013.

A CV or resume in English, transcripts from the institution, a statement of purpose, research experience, a justification for applying to the ISTA ISTernship programme, and referees' contact information are among the required materials. A reference letter for the application should be submitted by the references, who should be someone who have instructed or overseen your work in an academic setting.

A minimum of two months and a maximum of three months will pass during an internship that takes place between May 15, 2024, and September 15, 2024. After the selection procedure is over, ISTern and the lecturer decide on the length of the internship programme.
