Fully Funded to Hanoi, Viet Nam : Apply for the Young Leaders Programme 2026
Applications are open for the Young Leaders Programme 2026: Regional Cooperation and Next-Generation Solutions, an international opportunity for young researchers and professionals interested in maritime security, regional cooperation and South China Sea affairs.
The programme will take place from 6–8 October 2026 in Hanoi, Viet Nam, as part of the 18th South China Sea International Conference organised by the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam. Only eight young leaders will be selected to participate.
About the Programme
The Young Leaders Programme provides an opportunity for emerging leaders to engage directly with scholars, policymakers and practitioners working on geopolitics, maritime security and international affairs.
Participants will attend the South China Sea International Conference, take part in discussions with leading experts and contribute their own ideas on how to promote a peaceful, stable and prosperous South China Sea and wider Indo-Pacific region.
A special session will also allow selected Young Leaders to present policy pitches to conference participants and exchange ideas with experts during side events.
This opportunity is particularly suited to young researchers, emerging policy professionals and social science graduates who want to deepen their understanding of maritime security while building connections with experts and peers from across the region.
The application deadline is 13 September 2026 at 23:59 (GMT+7). Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Selected Young Leaders will receive:
- Round-trip economy-class airfare to Hanoi.

- Are between 20 and 35 years old at the start of the programme.
-Are fluent in English.
- Have an academic or professional background in political science, international relations, international law or another relevant social science field.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in maritime security and related regional issues.
- Have an interest in contributing to peace, cooperation and development in the South China Sea and Indo-Pacific.
- Only eight candidates will be selected.
