FULLY FUNDED TO NAIROBI, KENYA: Apply for the Energy Camp for Startups in Sub-Saharan Africa
Applications are now open for the upcoming Energy Camp, a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa who are ready to revolutionise the renewable energy sector. If you are working on a mature concept, a developed business model, or already have a functional prototype aimed at decentralised energy solutions in the region, this could be the platform that takes your vision to the next stage. The programme will run from 17 to 21 October 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya, and will host up to a dozen forward-thinking founders from across the continent.
Over the course of five days, participants will immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience designed to strengthen their entrepreneurial capabilities. The sessions will focus on refining products to better serve market needs, identifying effective ways to reach customers, and building strong, adaptable teams. Practical guidance on managing finances, navigating funding processes, and delivering compelling pitches to potential backers will also be an essential part of the week. Alongside training, attendees will benefit from invaluable networking opportunities, both with fellow innovators and with experienced mentors who have an in-depth understanding of Africa’s energy landscape.
The programme boasts an impressive track record, with past participants collectively securing millions of dollars in financial support through grants, loans, and investments, as well as gaining recognition through numerous awards. While the camp does not offer direct cash prizes, it opens doors to influential investors and global exposure, giving founders a stage to showcase their solutions to an international audience. In addition, participants will join a peer-to-peer learning network of like-minded entrepreneurs, fostering collaboration and the exchange of real-world strategies that address the specific challenges faced in the African market.
The final day of the programme will feature an online International Demo Day, where founders will present their ventures to a worldwide audience of investors, organisations, and industry stakeholders. This opportunity is open to individuals or teams in the pre-startup stage or whose companies are less than a decade old, provided their solutions are already at the minimum viable product stage or are a significant enhancement of existing offerings. Eligible ideas must focus on decentralised renewable energy in areas such as generation, distribution, storage, energy management, digital solutions, efficient products, financing mechanisms, recycling, or related applications in sectors like health, education, agriculture, water, mobility, and sanitation.
Applicants must have already tested their ideas through a pilot project or have secured their first customers. Startups must either be registered in a Sub-Saharan African country or be preparing for incorporation in the region. Those who have previously received more than €500,000 from non-African investors will not be eligible to apply. All travel, accommodation, and meals during the camp will be fully covered by the organisers, ensuring that selected participants can focus entirely on learning, connecting, and building the next chapter of their entrepreneurial journey.
