Applications are open for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)  2nd Supply Chain Innovation Challenge, inviting innovators from around the world to submit technology-driven ideas that can help build more resilient, sustainable, efficient and inclusive global supply chains.

The challenge is designed for individuals and teams developing practical solutions that use frontier technologies to address current and emerging challenges affecting global trade and supply chains.

About the Challenge

The UNCTAD Supply Chain Innovation Challenge is part of the 2nd UNCTAD Global Supply Chain Forum, which will take place from 29 November to 1 December 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in partnership with MAWANI.

Participants are encouraged to propose innovative solutions that can help supply chains anticipate disruptions, withstand shocks and recover more effectively while supporting environmental sustainability and inclusion.

Solutions may incorporate technologies such as:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Internet of Things (IoT)
• Blockchain
• Digital twins
• Satellite technologies
• Robotics
• Other emerging and frontier technologies

Priority Areas

UNCTAD is particularly interested in proposals that address areas such as:

• Greener and more sustainable supply chains
• Food security and resilient food supply systems
• Cross-border trade and customs procedures
• Supply chain efficiency
• Preparedness for future disruptions
• Inclusive supply chains
• Sustainable technology applications

It can also provide valuable exposure for solutions involving AI, blockchain, IoT, robotics, digital twins and satellite technologies, particularly where these technologies can deliver measurable improvements in resilience, sustainability and inclusion.
