Applications are open for the climate policy fellowship aimed at Indigenous youth, a year-long program focused on capacity building and engagement in international climate negotiations under the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The program will support participants in developing skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to discussions on climate governance and policy.

Candidates between the ages of 18 and 30 may apply if they demonstrate a genuine and accountable relationship with their community, people, or nation, with self-identification and belonging recognized as the basis for Indigenous identity and no formal documentation required.

Applicants are expected to describe their experience in areas such as climate justice, Indigenous rights, environmental protection, or policy work, and to explain their motivation for participating in international climate negotiations while selecting a thematic area such as mitigation, adaptation, Article 6 mechanisms, or climate finance.

Those chosen for the fellowship must commit to regular online training sessions and coordination meetings and to taking part in international climate events including SB 64 in 2026 and COP 31 later that year. A recommendation letter from a community, movement, or organizational reference of no more than two pages in PDF format must be submitted as instructed by the deadline, and all application materials will be treated confidentially and used solely for selection purposes.
