FULLY FUNDED TO SOUTH AFRICA: Apply for the Global Movement Builders’ School for young changemakers

In a bold step toward global solidarity and transformative change, JASS (Just Associates) is launching its very first open Global Movement Builders’ School—an empowering space designed for those driving social justice forward. Whether you’re an activist, grassroots organizer, educator, advocate, or artivist working for equity, liberation, and systemic transformation, this is a rare invitation to be part of something profoundly impactful. If you see your work as part of a broader movement for justice, this experience was made with you in mind.

For decades, JASS has been nurturing powerful leadership and resilient movements in Mesoamerica, Southeast Asia, and Southern Africa. Now, that deep-rooted wisdom is expanding globally through this immersive, four-day gathering—anchored in feminist popular education and inspired by their latest framework Just Power: A Guide for Activists and Changemakers. This school is a meeting place for passionate changemakers from all over the world to come together in response to the crises of our times, and chart new, imaginative routes toward liberation.

The world is shifting in chaotic and often dangerous ways. Civil society is under pressure, democratic spaces are shrinking, and funding streams are becoming increasingly precarious. Amid this uncertainty, JASS sees an urgent need to pause, reflect, and reimagine what’s possible. This is not a time to retreat. It is a moment to reconnect with purpose, re-evaluate our approaches, and reaffirm our commitment to collective action with renewed courage and creativity.

The Movement Builders’ School is more than a training—it’s a dynamic, collaborative journey. Participants will explore the structural forces shaping our present realities, envision radical alternatives, and reframe their strategies with a deeper understanding of movement-building. Through collective inquiry and solidarity, attendees will engage with the idea of a “movement mindset,” locating their work within broader ecosystems of resistance and change. This is a chance to grow sharper in strategy, stronger in purpose, and more deeply connected across borders and identities.

JASS is looking for around 50 dedicated individuals from all regions of the world. Ideal participants will have at least five years of experience in organizing, advocacy, or movement work and will be playing key roles within their communities, networks, or organizations. They will be people committed to feminist, decolonial approaches to justice and eager to build bridges across movements. Above all, they’ll be ready to challenge old paradigms, embrace learning, and embed what they gain into their long-term work for justice.

The program will take place in South Africa, led by an experienced facilitation team representing diverse regions and movements. To ensure accessibility, interpretation will be available in both English and Spanish. JASS will fully fund the costs of participation—covering travel, transit, meals, and accommodation. For organizations with larger financial capacity, a partial contribution will be encouraged to support program sustainability.

Applications are now open and will close on May 11 at 18:00 EDT. Selected participants will be informed by early June.

This is a transformative opportunity to learn, connect, and lead with vision. If you feel called to deepen your commitment to change in a community of global movement builders, don’t hesitate. Apply now and take your place in shaping a more just, liberated future.
