Applications are now open for the 2026 Global Essay Competition, offering exceptional young minds the opportunity to join the prestigious 54th St. Gallen Symposium as Leaders of Tomorrow. This fully funded experience brings together 300 outstanding young talents and 600 established leaders from across the world for stimulating cross-generational dialogue, meaningful exchange of ideas, and powerful networking. Participants will have the chance to present their perspectives, engage directly with decision-makers, and gain inspiration from prominent global speakers, while becoming part of an exclusive international community. Winners of the competition will also share a prize pool of CHF 20,000.

The 2026 essay challenge invites applicants to reflect on the shifting global balance of power, as countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America rise as influential forces in politics, economics, technology, culture, and demographics. Applicants are encouraged to explore how this emerging multipolar world shapes the future of leadership and global cooperation. Submissions should identify a clear risk or opportunity connected to this shift, propose an innovative and practical solution, and demonstrate bold, forward-thinking ideas that move beyond traditional approaches while remaining focused and concrete.

The competition is open to individual applicants only, and each submission must be an original, thought-provoking essay written in English, with a maximum length of 2,100 words excluding references, footnotes, and the abstract.
