Applications are open for the 2025 edition of LOCALINTERNational, a fully-funded international training program in Türkiye!

Organized annually by the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye since 2012, LOCALINTERNational offers a unique opportunity for international university students and recent graduates to immerse themselves in the world of local governance. This year’s program will take place from August 31 to September 7, 2025, bringing together a diverse group of young minds from around the globe to explore the workings of Turkish municipalities.

The program is designed to provide firsthand insights into the principles and operations of local administrations in Türkiye. Through a blend of interactive training sessions, field visits, and rich cultural experiences, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how local governments function and contribute to broader social and developmental goals. Beyond the academic aspect, the program encourages cultural exchange and international networking, fostering lifelong friendships and professional connections among future leaders.

From sustainable development and youth engagement to funding strategies and international cooperation, the training modules will cover various key topics that shape effective and inclusive governance at the local level. Participants will get the chance to observe best practices in urban planning, resource management, and collaborative governance through real-world municipal examples and site visits.

Those selected for the program will have their accommodation, meals, domestic transportation, and international flights fully covered by the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. However, applicants are responsible for securing their own visas. Selection will be based on several factors including English proficiency, academic performance, and international exposure.
