Fully Funded to UK : Apply for this Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship 2024-25

Applications are open for the Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship 2024-25.

Richard and Susan Hayden collaborated on this fellowship. The programme provides early- to mid-career individuals with the chance to work on a personal research topic at Chatham House for 10 months.

Professionals in the early to mid-stages of their careers who are passionate about finding evidence-based solutions to some of the most important global challenges are known as Academy Fellows. These professionals come from a wide range of backgrounds, including government, research, academia, civil society, and journalism. In their native nations, regions, or even globally, they are frequently rising leaders who exhibit extraordinary promise as authorities in their respective domains.

It is highly recommended that fellows take into account the overarching mission, objectives, and aims of Chatham House, synchronise their research proposal with the activities and emphasis of the mentioned research programmes, and formulate research proposals that aim to make a direct contribution to the following topics:

The Digital Society Initiative seeks to explore alternative models of technology governance and provision, particularly in Western democracies, such as digital public infrastructure programs, licensing, government procurement, and state capacity building exercises. It seeks examples from Global Majority case studies to illustrate innovative policy responses for a healthy digital commons.

The Europe Programme explores the future of the EU, the need for institutional reform, and the challenges of a right-wing swing across Europe. It also discusses European security vulnerabilities, its global positioning, and its relationship with Africa and the concept of a geopolitical Europe.

The Global Economy and Finance Programme examines the distribution of currency power, investigates possible alternatives to the dollar's hegemony, and strengthens the credibility of global economic governance.

The International Security Programme investigates how internet and space might be used to address common issues and guarantee safe use. It is explored how NATO has responded to new security threats and geopolitical issues. Collaboration for accountability and the reinforcement of international legal frameworks are also covered. Foreign politics, the UK's scientific and technological strengths, and its strategic relationships with the global south are all covered. The concept of "securenomics" is also examined, with an emphasis on how various areas affect UK foreign policy.

Location: Hybrid (Office/Home); minimum of two days in the office each week; participation in leadership course sessions is required.

The application deadline is June 4, 2024, a Tuesday. Please be aware that the fellowship applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Within four weeks of the position closing, you will receive an update on the progress of your application.
