The UNCCD Youth Caucus is the official youth constituency for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and Drought (UNCCD). Established during COP14 in 2019 in India, the Youth Caucus serves as a permanent platform for the meaningful involvement, participation, and access of children and youth to decision-making processes within the UNCCD framework.
An open call has been issued for the Coordination Team of the UNCCD Youth Caucus. The Coordination Team, also known as the Steering Committee, is responsible for various functions including governance, policy alignment, and coordination across regional and thematic areas.
Members of the Coordination Team will participate in weekly meetings, coordinate activities, strategies, and actions to engage children and youth in decision-making related to desertification, land degradation, and drought. Additionally, they will work to establish connections with United Nations agencies to empower children and youth in discussions, negotiations, and conversations on desertification, land, and drought issues.
