The scholarship provides full financial coverage for the duration of the master’s programme, which is typically up to two years. It pays complete tuition fees directly to the host university and offers a monthly living allowance to cover accommodation, food, books, and other daily necessities. Selected scholars also receive round-trip economy airfare between their home country and the host institution, additional travel support, and basic medical insurance coverage. This comprehensive funding package ensures that recipients can focus entirely on their education without financial stress.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be nationals of a World Bank member developing country and must not hold citizenship of a developed country. Candidates are required to possess a bachelor’s degree obtained at least three years prior to the application deadline and should have accumulated no less than three years of recent, paid, development-related professional experience after completing their undergraduate studies. At the time of applying, individuals must be employed in development work and must secure unconditional admission, except for funding, to a participating master’s programme outside their home country. Applicants should also be in good health and must not be current or former World Bank Group staff members or close relatives of staff. Those applying through participating institutions such as IHE Delft must first gain academic admission and may be required to submit professional recommendations or complete an internal nomination process before being considered for the scholarship.
