Applications are open for the Lafayette Fellowship 2026–2027, an exceptional opportunity for outstanding U.S. students to pursue one year of fully funded master’s-level study in France.
The Lafayette Fellowship aims to strengthen academic and cultural ties between France and the United States by offering young American graduates the chance to study at leading French universities and grandes écoles. Fellows will also participate in a French-American leadership program that includes lectures, masterclasses, cultural events, and mentorship activities, fostering a new generation of globally engaged leaders.

Selected Fellows will receive full financial support covering all major expenses for one academic year in France, including:
• Tuition and administrative fees at partner institutions.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens under 27 years old as of 1 July 2026, and must have earned their bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution between August 2023 and June 2026.
Applicants must also meet the following requirements:
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.7 out of 4.0 (unrounded).
• Be applying for full-time, in-person master’s-level study in France for one academic year (2026–2027).
• Apply both to a partner French institution and to the Lafayette Fellowship; the award is conditional upon acceptance to the chosen French institution.
• Knowledge of French is not required for eligibility, though interest in French culture and society is encouraged.
The Fellowship welcomes candidates from all fields, including STEM, humanities, social sciences, arts, and other disciplines addressing global challenges such as sustainability, health, technology, and peace.
Applicants must also meet the following requirements:
