Applications are open for the Germany–CGIAR++ Science and Impact Hub Junior Scientists Programme 2026. The programme is designed to support early-career researchers who are passionate about addressing global challenges related to agriculture, climate change, biodiversity, forestry, and sustainable development. Through collaboration between German universities and CGIAR research centres, selected participants will have the opportunity to conduct research projects that contribute to sustainable and innovative solutions for food systems and environmental resilience. The programme offers financial support and provides participants with valuable international research experience under the supervision of experts from both German academic institutions and CGIAR centres.

Program Benefits

Successful applicants will receive a scholarship worth €6,000 to support their research activities. The scholarship is disbursed in two instalments, with €5,500 provided at the beginning of the research stay and the remaining €500 awarded upon successful submission of the final report. Participants will benefit from mentorship by leading researchers, gain international research experience within CGIAR institutions, expand their professional networks, and contribute to impactful scientific projects addressing global sustainability challenges.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be Master’s students or recent Master’s graduates affiliated with a German university. Candidates are required to work closely with an academic supervisor from their German institution and a supervisor from a CGIAR++ centre. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in research related to sustainable agriculture, climate action, biodiversity conservation, forestry, food systems, or other development-oriented scientific disciplines. Submission of the required application documents, including a motivation letter, curriculum vitae, academic transcripts, a research concept or proposal, and recommendation or supervisory letters, is mandatory. Individuals who are not affiliated with a German university are not eligible for this programme.

Eligible Countries

The programme is open to applicants from all nationalities provided they are enrolled at or affiliated with eligible German universities and fulfil the programme’s academic and supervisory requirements. International students studying in Germany may also apply if they meet all eligibility criteria.
