FUNDED: Apply for the ISHR Training Ahead of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights 202

Applications are open for the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) Training Ahead of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) 2026. This in-person training programme is designed to equip human rights defenders and civil society representatives across Africa with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively engage with the African Commission’s human rights mechanisms. Participants will learn how to strengthen their advocacy efforts and contribute to advancing human rights at the national, regional, and international levels. The training will take place in Dakar, Senegal, ahead of the 89th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be human rights defenders, civil society actors, or representatives of organizations working on human rights issues in Africa. The programme welcomes individuals committed to promoting and protecting human rights and those interested in strengthening their engagement with the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Applicants should be available to participate fully in the training activities and demonstrate a strong commitment to using the knowledge gained to support human rights advocacy in their respective countries and communities.
Eligible Countries
The programme is open to applicants from all African countries. Individuals and organizations actively working on human rights issues affecting the African continent are encouraged to apply regardless of their specific area of focus, provided their work aligns with the objectives of the training programme.
