FUNDED TO TUNISIA: Apply for the Malek Sghiri Scholarship to learn Arabic in Tunis 2025

The Malek Sghiri Scholarship offers a full tuition award for a summer-long group course at the Taa Marbouta Language Centre in Tunis, Tunisia. This scholarship exclusively supports Arabic language studies, yet prior knowledge of the language is not a requirement. Recipients can enroll in courses at any level, from beginner to advanced. The funding covers the costs of language instruction as well as support for research and internships. However, it does not include expenses for accommodation, travel, or daily living.

Designed to enhance participants’ academic and professional development, this program provides full-time language study combined with opportunities for professional internships and engagement with civil society initiatives. It fosters connections between international students and local non-governmental organizations in Tunisia, offering an immersive experience in a North African, Arabic-speaking environment. The scholarship also aims to deepen participants’ understanding of Tunisia’s post-2011 social and political evolution while strengthening cross-cultural ties and fostering lasting relationships within Tunisian communities.

Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old and can come from any country or territory. A demonstrated commitment to human rights, anti-corruption efforts, or civil society is essential. Additionally, candidates must be able to obtain a visa or have visa-free access to Tunisia.
