Projects applying for the Ford Environmental Grants must adhere to the following requirements:

Be managed by legally registered non-profit organizations with their own bank accounts.

Show clear evidence of positive impact within local communities.

Directly align with and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Integrate environmental education activities into their project framework.

Be backed by public-private partnerships that help ensure the project's long-term sustainability.

Only projects that are already in progress and have demonstrated significant initial results will be considered. Proposals for new or yet-to-be-launched initiatives will not be eligible.

Applications are accepted solely for projects currently operating in Puerto Rico, Panama, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala.

Winners from the most recent edition of the grant are not eligible to reapply; however, projects that received funding in earlier cycles may be resubmitted for evaluation.
