GRANTS: Youth Day of Service (YDOS) 2026 Applications Open for Young African Changemakers

Applications are now open for the Youth Day of Service (YDOS) 2026, a Pan-African initiative that mobilizes young people to lead community-driven projects advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Organized by LEAP Africa, YDOS is a month-long campaign held in celebration of the United Nations International Youth Day on August 12, providing young Africans with an opportunity to transform innovative ideas into meaningful action.

The Youth Day of Service is more than a campaign—it is a continent-wide movement that empowers young people to identify challenges within their communities and develop practical, sustainable solutions. Through volunteerism, leadership, and collaboration, participants contribute to addressing issues such as education, climate action, health, gender equality, economic empowerment, and poverty reduction while strengthening community resilience.

As part of the 2026 edition, LEAP Africa continues to support youth-led initiatives through the LEAP Africa Impact Fund, which provides financial assistance to eligible, registered projects with strong potential for social impact. Beyond funding, selected participants gain access to technical support, mentorship, visibility, and opportunities to strengthen the implementation of their initiatives, helping them create measurable and lasting change within their communities.

The initiative also creates a vibrant network of young changemakers from across Africa, encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and peer learning. By connecting youth leaders with like-minded innovators, YDOS promotes cross-border partnerships and strengthens a collective commitment to sustainable development. It also provides a platform to showcase youth-led solutions, amplify young voices, and inspire more communities to embrace locally driven development initiatives.

The Youth Day of Service 2026 welcomes passionate young people who are committed to making a difference in their communities. Whether through environmental conservation, education, entrepreneurship, healthcare, civic engagement, or other SDG-focused initiatives, participants have the opportunity to demonstrate the power of youth leadership while contributing to Africa’s sustainable future.

Young Africans with innovative ideas and a passion for community service are encouraged to apply and become part of a growing movement of leaders creating positive change across the continent. Through YDOS 2026, participants will not only implement impactful projects but also gain valuable experience, expand their professional networks, and inspire others to take action toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
