INTERNSHIP : Apply for the Ashinaga Internship Program 2026 –2027 for International Students and Recent Graduates
Applications are now open for the Fall/Winter 2026–2027 intake of the Ashinaga Internship Program, offering students and recent graduates from around the world an opportunity to gain practical experience in the non-profit sector while contributing to initiatives that support vulnerable young people.
Organized by the Ashinaga Foundation, a Japan-based non-profit organization, the internship program provides participants with exposure to international development, education, youth empowerment, and social impact work. The foundation is widely recognized for supporting young people who have lost one or both parents or whose parents are unable to work due to disability.
About the Internship Program
The Ashinaga Internship Program is designed to help emerging professionals develop valuable workplace skills, expand their international networks, and gain firsthand experience within a global non-profit environment.
Interns work alongside multicultural teams and contribute to projects that support the foundation’s mission of creating educational opportunities and long-term support systems for young people facing significant challenges.
Several internship positions are available through the Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) and other student-focused programs managed by the organization.
Internship Formats
Remote Internships
Individuals living outside the Tokyo Metropolitan Area may participate remotely from their country of residence. This option allows interns from around the world to contribute to Ashinaga’s programs without relocating to Japan.
Tokyo-Based Internships
Applicants residing in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area may choose from:
- In-person internships at Ashinaga’s headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo
- Hybrid work arrangements
- Remote participation within Japan
Program Dates
Fall/Winter 2026–2027 Cohort
- Internship Period: 28 September – 18 December 2026
- Possible Extension: 18 January – 12 March 2027
Extensions may be offered based on organizational needs, intern performance, and mutual agreement between both parties.
Important Information
Ashinaga Foundation does not provide:
- Airfare
- Accommodation
- Visa sponsorship
Applicants who are not already planning to reside in Tokyo during the internship period are encouraged to apply for remote positions.
