The Conservation Strategy Fund, in collaboration with Conservation International, is seeking Senior Expert Consultants to contribute to the development of an innovative “Restoration Calculator”—a tool designed to assess the costs, benefits, and investment potential of ecosystem restoration projects worldwide.

About the Opportunity

This initiative aims to strengthen decision-making in restoration efforts by generating reliable data on costs, revenues, and co-benefits across different regions. Selected consultants will provide technical and economic insights based on their professional expertise.

Rather than fieldwork, the assignment focuses on completing a structured assessment that captures real-world experience and knowledge of restoration practices.

Available Roles

Consultants are being recruited across three regions:

• Ecosystem Restoration Technical Expert – Americas

• Ecosystem Restoration Technical Expert – Africa

• Ecosystem Restoration Technical Expert – Asia

Key Responsibilities

Selected experts will:

• Provide data on restoration costs and potential economic returns

• Share insights based on hands-on project experience

• Complete a structured questionnaire using professional knowledge

• Contribute to the design of a global decision-support tool

Preferred Experience

Candidates with the following backgrounds may have an advantage:

• Work experience in Africa, Asia, or the Americas with knowledge of local restoration systems

• Expertise in economic analysis, budgeting, or cost-benefit evaluation

• Experience with community-based land management or smallholder systems

• Familiarity with non-timber forest products (NTFPs)

• Previous involvement in research, policy tools, or analytical frameworks
