About Mastercard Foundation

The Mastercard Foundation is one of the world’s largest charitable organizations, registered in Canada. Its mission is to partner with forward-thinking institutions to expand access to education and financial inclusion, helping young people across Africa and Indigenous youth in Canada secure meaningful and dignified work. Founded in 2006 through an endowment from Mastercard when it became a public company, the Foundation operates independently from the company itself. It is guided by its own Board of Directors and leadership team, with regional offices in Toronto, Kigali, Accra, Nairobi, Kampala, Lagos, Dakar, and Addis Ababa.
