JOB OPPORTUNITY: DW Akademie is hiring an English-speaking Editor with a focus on social media
DW Akademie is searching for an English-speaking Editor (f/m/d) with expertise in social media to join their team in either Bonn or Berlin starting December 1, 2025, or at the earliest possible date. The position will be offered on the basis of a one-year employment contract.
The chosen candidate will be integrated into the editorial unit, where they will help shape innovative strategies, formats, and content designed to enhance DW Akademie’s visibility and engagement on social media platforms. They will be actively involved in community management, fostering constructive dialogue and interaction on channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and Bluesky. In addition, they will be expected to write, edit, and adapt texts, while also producing and refining video content for social media, the website, newsletters, and various other communication formats. Their role will also involve participation in content planning, topic selection, and the creation of concepts for projects and events. Beyond this, they will provide communication support to DW Akademie’s media development initiatives and contribute to preparing reports and decision papers for the organization’s Managing Director.
Applicants are expected to hold a university degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or a related discipline. They should demonstrate strong journalistic ability and have several years of experience within an editorial environment or in public relations, particularly with a focus on digital journalism and social media. A solid track record in managing social platforms and creating video content is essential. The role calls for creativity, conceptual thinking, and practical experience in developing and delivering communication strategies and campaigns. Intercultural competence and the ability to thrive in multidisciplinary, diverse teams are considered essential qualities. Candidates must possess English at a native-speaker level, while knowledge of German is advantageous. Familiarity with development cooperation, experience with DW’s content management systems, and proficiency in software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop will also be considered assets.
