Applications are now being accepted for a Project Assistant position supporting an innovative climate education initiative at the School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences (SICSS), hosted by the University of Hamburg. The role is linked to the development of Climate Knowledges in Context: Studying Climate Futures (CKIC), a new interdisciplinary programme designed to support international master's students pursuing studies in climate and Earth system sciences.

The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a growing academic initiative that connects climate science, social sciences, and economics while helping students build academic, professional, and intercultural networks in Germany.

About the Programme

CKIC is being developed within the framework of the Climate, Climatic Change and Society (CLICCS) Cluster of Excellence. The programme aims to create an inclusive learning environment where international students can explore climate futures through interdisciplinary perspectives while receiving support for their academic and career development.

Participants in the programme will engage with universities, research institutions, and external partners, gaining valuable exposure to both academic and non-academic career pathways.

Position Details

  • Position: Project Assistant – International MSc Programmes in Climate Education
  • Location: Hamburg, Germany
  • Institution: School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences (SICSS), University of Hamburg
  • Start Date: 1 September 2026
  • Contract Duration: Until 31 December 2029
  • Workload: 50% part-time position
  • Salary Grade: EGR. 11 TV-L

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist in building and implementing the CKIC programme by supporting a range of activities, including:

  • Coordinating student recruitment and selection processes
  • Supporting onboarding and mentoring activities
  • Organizing workshops, networking sessions, and welcome events
  • Managing participant communications and documentation
  • Assisting with travel arrangements and event logistics
  • Supporting budget administration, reporting, and monitoring activities
  • Maintaining digital platforms and application management systems
  • Facilitating collaboration between students, faculty, and partner organizations

Eligibility Criteria
