With more than 230 member institutions across over 60 countries, the organization promotes collaboration, shared learning, and advocacy to ensure that giving systems are well-supported and capable of driving long-term systemic change.

Through partnerships, research, and capacity-building initiatives, WINGS strengthens philanthropy infrastructure and encourages locally led development across regions, including Africa.

Position Overview

Job Title: Africa Coordinator
Location: Africa-based (Remote)
Contract Type: Consultant Position
Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Travel Requirement: Up to 15% international and regional travel

The Africa Coordinator will support the implementation of WINGS’ regional strategy by strengthening engagement with African members, fostering collaboration across philanthropy networks, and amplifying African voices within global philanthropic discussions.

Working within the Network and Ecosystems Team, the Coordinator will help build stronger regional connections, facilitate knowledge exchange, and advance initiatives that support sustainable philanthropy ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Network Engagement and Growth

  • Serve as a primary liaison for WINGS members across Africa
  • Facilitate regional collaboration through working groups and community exchanges
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new members
  • Promote participation of African organizations in global WINGS initiatives
  • Coordinate regional events, dialogues, webinars, and in-person gatherings

2. Strengthening Philanthropy Ecosystems

  • Support initiatives aimed at improving philanthropy infrastructure across Africa
  • Identify sector needs, trends, and collaboration opportunities
  • Convene stakeholders to promote shared learning and innovation
  • Work alongside regional partners to enhance locally driven giving systems

3. Regional Strategy Implementation

  • Develop and manage regional project plans aligned with WINGS’ strategic priorities
  • Coordinate research outputs, reports, and knowledge-sharing products
  • Lead fundraising activities including proposal development and donor engagement
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure timely delivery of activities
  • Represent WINGS at conferences, forums, and regional engagements

Salary Range: USD 30,000 – 40,000 annually (based on location and experience)
Eligibility Criteria
- Residence in an African country
- Fluency in English and French (Portuguese or additional languages are an advantage)
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in nonprofit coordination, networks, or philanthropy-related work
- Strong understanding of civil society and philanthropic ecosystems in Africa
- Experience in fundraising and proposal development
- Excellent communication, coordination, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work across cultures and global time zones
- Proficiency in digital collaboration and database tools
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within philanthropy support organizations
- Knowledge of regional and global development trends
- Demonstrated intercultural communication skills
- Experience engaging multi-stakeholder partnerships across sectors
