OPPORTUNITY: Apply For The UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads International Photo Contest 2026
Applications are open for the 2026 UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads International Photo Contest. Organized within the framework of the UNESCO Silk Roads Programme, the annual competition invites young photographers from around the world to showcase their creativity and understanding of the shared cultural heritage connected to the Silk Roads through photography. The contest aims to encourage intercultural dialogue, promote peace, and foster mutual understanding among diverse communities linked by the historic Silk Roads routes.
For the 8th edition of the competition, participants are invited to submit photographs based on the theme “Living Heritage along the Silk Roads.” Young photographers are encouraged to capture traditions, craftsmanship, cultural practices, music, celebrations, food traditions, storytelling, and everyday life that reflect the living heritage and cultural exchanges of Silk Roads communities.
The competition provides an international platform for youth to share their artistic perspectives while promoting cultural appreciation and historical awareness. Winning photographs and selected entries will be featured in international exhibitions and a professional photography album titled “Youth Lens on the Silk Roads.”

Additional Information
In addition, around 60 selected photographs will be published in the professional photo album “Youth Lens on the Silk Roads” and may also be displayed in exhibitions organized internationally by UNESCO. This offers participants global visibility and recognition for their creative work.
Participants also gain the opportunity to engage with an international cultural initiative that promotes creativity, intercultural understanding, and youth participation in preserving and celebrating cultural heritage.
Applicants should submit original photographs related to the contest theme “Living Heritage along the Silk Roads.” Participants may submit images featuring cultural traditions, craftsmanship, performing arts, rituals, gastronomy, multicultural celebrations, and portraits representing the diversity and cultural richness of Silk Roads communities.
