GOAL’s NextGen Youth Programme unites passionate young people from various countries to dive into global justice topics and expand their understanding of what it means to be a Global Citizen. The initiative empowers youth to grasp the urgent crises facing the world today, with a primary focus on climate change and health systems. Participants will collaborate across borders, using their creativity to design materials that raise awareness and contribute to GOAL’s public engagement efforts.

The 2025 edition will blend online and in-person learning, offering 10 immersive sessions. While most sessions will happen virtually, two in-person gatherings will be held exclusively for participants based in Ireland. The online sessions are scheduled at times that accommodate participants across multiple time zones, fostering a truly global learning environment. Through interactive discussions and group projects, participants will sharpen their critical thinking, communication, project management, and teamwork skills — all essential for organizing impactful awareness campaigns.

Participants will be encouraged to explore the deep connections between global issues, challenge the systems that drive inequality, and reflect on their role in shaping a more just world. The programme will emphasize dialogue rooted in empathy, inclusivity, and solidarity. By the end of the journey, participants will not only gain confidence to advocate for change but also have the chance to engage directly with GOAL’s staff and learn about the organization’s humanitarian work.

The programme seeks young people aged 18-25 currently living in Ireland, Ethiopia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Honduras, Iraq, Syria, or Turkey. Applicants should have a good command of English, a strong interest in social issues, and a commitment to attending all sessions. Previous experience in volunteering, creative arts, or community initiatives will be an added advantage, though not mandatory. Access to a device and internet is preferred, but the programme will explore ways to support participants facing digital access challenges.

To ensure equal access, all selected participants will receive a €400 stipend to help cover internet, data, and travel expenses during the programme. This financial support is designed to remove participation barriers, allowing young changemakers from diverse backgrounds to fully engage in this transformative experience.
