PAID FELLOWSHIP: Apply for the GreenCheck Solidarity Academy 2025 for young climate activists and changemakers
Applications are open for the GreenCheck Solidarity Academy, a compensated training and internship initiative focused on nurturing emerging climate leaders from communities most impacted by the climate crisis, commonly referred to as MAPA (Most Affected Peoples and Areas). This alternative term to “Global South” more accurately describes marginalized populations facing disproportionate environmental harm, including Indigenous, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and low-income groups.
The program is seeking young changemakers between the ages of 18 and 24 who have less than one year of experience in grassroots climate activism. Eligible candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in social and environmental issues and must have access to a stable internet connection and a personal computer or laptop. While the opportunity is open to applicants globally, priority will be given to individuals from rural areas and regions such as Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, the Pacific Islands, and various parts of Asia including Central, South, and Southeast Asia.
The application process is currently underway and will close on April 20. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis from April 5 to May 5, so early submissions are encouraged. Final selections will be made by mid-May, with the training and capacity-building phase beginning in early June. This will be followed by a period of hands-on engagement and solidarity work starting in early July and concluding in late September.
Each selected intern will receive a monthly allowance of $250 USD, totaling $1,000 over the course of the program. Although the stipend is modest, the part-time and flexible nature of the opportunity is designed to allow participants to engage in other commitments simultaneously. Organizers are committed to addressing financial challenges and may adjust stipends based on local inflation or individual needs.
This is a remote or hybrid part-time program requiring a weekly commitment of at least 10 hours. Some weeks may demand fewer hours—sometimes as low as 5—depending on the specific tasks assigned by the partnering organizations.
