Applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2026 Internship Programme offered by the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) in Austria. The opportunity is designed for graduate students and recent graduates who are interested in international security, nuclear policy, non-proliferation, diplomacy, and related fields.
Hosted in Vienna for up to six months, the internship provides participants with practical exposure to research, policy discussions, and international engagement on some of the most pressing issues surrounding nuclear disarmament and peaceful nuclear technologies.
The selected intern will receive financial support, including a monthly stipend, health insurance coverage, and relocation assistance where applicable.
About the Programme
The Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation is an independent international organization that promotes dialogue, research, education, and training on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation issues. Through collaboration with governments, international institutions, academics, and civil society actors, the Center contributes to informed policymaking and international cooperation.
The internship offers participants the chance to work alongside experienced researchers and policy experts while contributing to ongoing projects and events.
Internship Responsibilities
During the programme, the successful candidate will:
- Design and conduct an independent research project related to nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation, or peaceful nuclear applications under expert supervision.
- Support ongoing research activities led by VCDNP specialists.
- Assist in organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, and training programmes.
- Engage with professionals from international organizations, government institutions, and academic communities.
- Contribute to communication and outreach activities.
- Support website management and search engine optimization efforts.
- Assist with administrative and event-related tasks.
- Carry out additional assignments relevant to the Centre’s work.

The internship is expected to begin in October 2026, with the exact start date agreed upon between the selected candidate and VCDNP.
