Paid Remote Internship : Check out these Summer 2024 Internship opportunities at Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC)

Applications are open for the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) Summer 2024 Internship Program.

Regarding the commitment, interns are expected to work 20 hours a week on average in a fully remote setting during the programme, which runs from June to August of 2024 (necessary in-person obligations for interns based in Puerto Rico). Interns at IREC will have the chance to produce a written piece or research project with the assistance of their mentor. For their involvement, interns will get $20 per hour or an equal stipend. Additionally, college credit might be offered. Our long-term objective is to train students from underprivileged backgrounds and people who are underrepresented in STEM fields. It is our aim that this early career support programme will contribute to increased diversity and inclusion in the clean energy industry.

Concerning the positions:
For the online Summer 2024 IREC Internship Programme, the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) is currently accepting applications. The goal of the internship programme is to give students real-world experience and direct exposure to the sustainable energy industry. The departments of IREC that provide undergraduate internships include Workforce Development, Local Initiatives, Regulatory, and Communications. Within the application, interns will be able to indicate the internship or internships they are interested in applying for.

About IREC

IREC is an independent nonprofit that builds the foundation for rapid adoption of clean energy and energy efficiency to benefit people, the economy, and our planet. Our vision is a 100% clean energy future that is reliable, resilient, and equitable. IREC develops and advances the regulatory reforms, technical standards, and workforce and community-based solutions needed to enable the streamlined integration of clean energy.  IREC provides independent leadership and trusted clean energy expertise through three interrelated strategies:

  • Workforce Development - IREC leads initiatives to build a diverse and qualified clean energy workforce while ensuring that clean energy workers have access to family-sustaining careers.
  • Local Initiatives - IREC supports communities to develop policies and promote best practices that accelerate the equitable deployment of clean energy.
  • State Regulatory Engagement - IREC represents the public interest in state regulatory proceedings and develops and disseminates best practices to ensure that distributed energy resources (DERs) can be equitably and efficiently integrated on the electric grid.

The position involves interns contributing to IREC's work, including workforce development, local initiatives, and communications. They will build awareness of clean energy careers, develop training resources, analyze regional workforce needs, and participate in community outreach. They will also promote IREC's programs and objectives through various channels, learn about best practices, and analyze IREC communications resources.
