Applications are now being accepted for a short-term, paid research opportunity with the UNCCD Youth Caucus. This initiative invites young researchers to contribute to an important global assessment examining how youth are engaged in the processes of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
The selected candidates will play a key role in shaping a report that will be presented at the Conference of the Parties (COP), in line with the mandate under Decision 5/COP16. This work aims to strengthen youth participation in global environmental decision-making and highlight best practices for meaningful engagement.
About the Opportunity
This consultancy focuses on evaluating youth involvement within UNCCD processes and identifying ways to improve participation across its platforms and events. The selected researchers will collaborate with a diverse team to gather insights, analyze data, and contribute to a high-level report influencing international policy discussions.
Key Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be involved in a range of research and coordination tasks, including:

Designing and distributing surveys targeting youth stakeholders

Organizing and facilitating consultations, interviews, and focus group discussions

Supporting documentation and rapporteur duties during engagements

Synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data

Contributing to the drafting of the final report to be submitted to COP
