PAID ROLE: The Resilience Project is seeking Book Club Facilitators for its new People, Planet, Pages programme
People, Planet, Pages: Book Club Facilitator Opportunity
The Resilience Project is inviting young changemakers across Europe to become facilitators for People, Planet, Pages, a new book club initiative aimed at sparking connection, community, and hope in the face of climate challenges. This initiative centers around reading and discussing powerful texts that inspire resilience and collective action in a world grappling with ecological and emotional uncertainty.
Facilitators will play a key role in guiding meaningful conversations and building safe, supportive spaces where young people can share openly and reflect deeply. This is not just about reading together—it’s about creating moments of genuine connection, easing feelings of isolation, and rediscovering the strength that comes from being in community. Through shared stories and collective reflection, participants are encouraged to transform feelings of climate anxiety and burnout into connection, clarity, and hope.
This year’s chosen text, Not Too Late by Rebecca Solnit and Thelma Young Lutunatabua, is a powerful anthology of short essays written by climate leaders from around the globe. From poets and scientists to organisers and lawyers, the contributors offer fresh perspectives on changing the climate narrative—from despair to possibility. It’s a call to keep going, together.
Facilitators will begin their journey with an online training series consisting of four sessions that cover facilitation techniques and community-building skills. After this, they’ll lead a series of six book club sessions—held every two weeks either virtually or in person—with young participants from their local areas or broader regions. These gatherings, running from October 2025 to February 2026, will explore ideas of joy, resilience, and sustainable activism while deepening emotional connections among participants.
Along the way, facilitators will gain hands-on experience in leadership, project coordination, and emotional care. The programme offers more than just practical tools—it provides a meaningful support system, a chance to reduce personal climate-related stress, and the opportunity to build lasting friendships. In recognition of their contribution, each facilitator will receive a stipend of £100–£150, along with reimbursement for any necessary expenses.
This opportunity is open to individuals aged 18 to 28 who will be residing in Europe during the programme period. Applicants should be comfortable communicating in English, have a strong interest in climate justice and reading, and be enthusiastic about creating emotionally supportive spaces. Ideal candidates are compassionate, thoughtful, and ready to invest time in a five-month journey of learning, leading, and community engagement.
Applications close at 11:59 PM BST on Sunday, 17 August 2025.
