The winning play will be featured on the cover of The African Griot Review magazine and published within the magazine itself. Beyond financial support, the prize provides significant visibility, networking opportunities, and professional recognition in the global literary and theatre community. The competition also offers structured timelines for announcements, with the longlist revealed in December 2025, the shortlist in February 2026, and the winner announced at a literary event in April 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to writers worldwide who are aged 18 years or older. Entrants must submit original works that have not been published, performed, or broadcast in any form. Submissions must be written in English, and adaptations or translations are not eligible. Each play should be approximately 15 minutes in length, which translates to roughly 15 pages. Writers may submit up to three plays, provided each play is the work of a single author. Entrants must ensure that their name does not appear anywhere in the submitted document, as anonymity is required for fair judging. Use of AI tools for writing, plagiarism, or any form of copyright infringement will result in immediate disqualification.
