The UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education recognizes innovative and impactful contributions to advancing education for girls and women globally.

Funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, this prestigious award highlights successful projects that improve educational opportunities for women and girls, enhancing their quality of life and fostering gender equality.

Award Details:

• Two laureates will each receive USD 50,000 to support their ongoing work in promoting girls' and women's education.
• The Prize was first awarded in 2016 and continues to spotlight transformative educational initiatives.

Nomination Process:

• Nominations can be submitted by UNESCO Member States via their Permanent Delegations or National Commissions, or by NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO.
• Each entity may nominate up to three candidates.
• Nominations must be completed through the online platform (link available upon request) by 12 May 2025 (UTC+1, Paris time).

Timeline:

• 5 March: Call for nominations opens
• 26 May: Deadline for online submissions
• June/July: International Jury meeting
• Early October: Prize laureates announced
• 11 October: Award ceremony on International Day of the Girl Child
