The global ocean community is preparing for a major milestone as the 11th Our Ocean Conference (OOC11) will be hosted in Africa for the first time, with Kenya welcoming participants in June 2026. The conference will convene governments, international organizations, civil society, researchers, private sector actors, and ocean-focused initiatives to advance concrete commitments for ocean conservation and sustainable use.

Ahead of OOC11, the Our Ocean Conference Secretariat, in partnership with the Government of Kenya, is organizing a series of online Information Briefing Sessions scheduled for 27–29 January 2026. These sessions are designed to support institutions and organizations planning to participate in the conference, submit or update commitments, host side events, or explore partnership and exhibition opportunities.

Overview of the information briefings

The briefing sessions will provide participants with:

• An overview of OOC11 priorities and thematic focus areas

• Guidance on submitting new commitments or updating existing ones

• Information on opportunities for engagement through side events, exhibitions, and partnerships

• Practical details on conference logistics and planning for Mombasa and Kilifi

• A dedicated orientation session tailored for first-time Our Ocean Conference participants
