REMOTE JOB: The Climate Resilience Fund is hiring a remote Associate Program Officer

Applications are open for the position of Associate Program Officer at the Climate Resilience Fund (CRF), a role designed to support the Climate Smart Communities Initiative (CSCI) and advance the broader mission of the organization. Established in 2016, CRF is a collaborative entity committed to enhancing climate adaptation and resilience. Through its work, the organization seeks to promote fair and effective resilience strategies for both communities and ecosystems by leveraging resources from private philanthropy and federal partnerships. CRF focuses on driving meaningful impact through cooperative efforts and inventive solutions that address the challenges posed by climate change.

The Climate Smart Communities Initiative, which began in 2023, is a four-year program developed in partnership with NOAA and other key stakeholders. Its purpose is to expand resilience planning and implementation, enabling communities that face the highest climate risks to design equitable resilience strategies informed by the U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit. The initiative also emphasizes workforce development by providing training opportunities for emerging climate resilience professionals while reducing planning costs in ways that are measurable and scalable. Additionally, CRF played a central role in forming the Wildfire Resilience Funders network, a collaborative group committed to knowledge-sharing and coordinated action to address wildfire challenges across the western United States. This network works to advance collective understanding and implement effective strategies for wildfire resilience.

The Associate Program Officer will report directly to the Managing Director and support the execution of CRF’s programs. Responsibilities include overseeing program activities, facilitating communication with partners, tracking progress, and ensuring that outcomes are documented and shared with relevant stakeholders. The role requires strong knowledge of climate science, adaptation strategies, and resilience practices relevant to both communities and ecosystems. Candidates should be capable of independently managing multiple initiatives, maintaining organized work processes, and fostering collaboration among diverse partners.

Ideal applicants will have experience in environmental science, climate adaptation, or resilience fields, along with familiarity with nonprofit operations, grant management, and engagement with governmental bodies. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to create compelling content for websites, publications, press releases, newsletters, and social media. Candidates should also be comfortable representing the organization in professional networks and supporting fundraising efforts through presentations and reports. The position requires a commitment to equity, community-centered approaches, and environmental stewardship, alongside proficiency with grant management systems and CRM tools.

CRF offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 per year, full benefits including health, dental, retirement options, and generous leave. This is a full-time, fully remote opportunity, allowing candidates to contribute to meaningful climate resilience work from anywhere while engaging in a dynamic, collaborative, and impactful environment.
