Applications are open for the Just Transition Coordinator position with Generation Climate Europe (GCE), offering young climate advocates an opportunity to contribute to European climate policy and youth-led advocacy. This volunteer role is ideal for individuals interested in promoting a fair, inclusive, and sustainable transition while working with one of Europe's largest youth climate coalitions.

The position supports GCE's efforts to ensure that climate policies address social justice, youth inclusion, energy poverty, housing challenges, and access to green employment. The selected coordinator will work alongside another coordinator to guide the Just Transition Working Group and oversee projects that amplify youth perspectives in European policymaking.

About Generation Climate Europe

Generation Climate Europe is the largest coalition of youth-led networks focused on climate and environmental issues at the European level. Representing more than 381 national organizations across 46 European countries, the coalition advocates for policies that promote climate action while ensuring social equity, youth participation, and respect for human rights.

Responsibilities

The selected coordinator will:

• Co-lead the Just Transition Working Group alongside another coordinator.
• Coordinate and support a team of approximately 10 volunteers.
• Guide the implementation of projects on just transition, energy poverty, housing, and youth participation.
• Develop strategic priorities aligned with current EU climate and social policy discussions.
• Coordinate project planning and ensure timely delivery of activities.
• Build collaboration with GCE member organizations, partner institutions, and European stakeholders.
• Participate in coordination meetings and provide regular progress updates to the GCE Board.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive volunteer environment.

Projects

The coordinator will oversee two major initiatives:

Just Transition Framework

This project focuses on strengthening youth participation in climate policymaking while advocating for fair access to green jobs, education, and inclusive transition policies. It also aims to highlight the needs of vulnerable young people and ensure their voices are reflected in European climate legislation.

Energy Poverty and Housing

The initiative addresses the growing impact of energy poverty and housing insecurity on young people. It promotes stronger youth participation in policy development, advocates for improved age-disaggregated data, and supports inclusive approaches to housing and energy affordability across Europe.

Commitment

• Position: Just Transition Coordinator (Volunteer)
• Duration: Minimum of six months
• Time Commitment: 5–6 hours per week
• Location: Remote
