Applications are now open for a transformative opportunity designed to empower young Africans tackling climate and sustainability issues through innovation and entrepreneurship. This initiative seeks to equip aspiring changemakers with the knowledge, tools, and practical support needed to implement impactful solutions within their communities. The focus is on building resilience at the grassroots level and enabling communities to adapt effectively to the effects of a changing climate.

This program is open to startups that are not only passionate about environmental sustainability but are also ready to scale their ideas. Participating teams must be composed of at least two individuals, all of whom must be between the ages of 18 and 35, of African descent, and currently residing on the continent. While gender balance is not a mandatory requirement, teams with strong female representation—ideally between 40% and 50%—are strongly encouraged to apply. A solid command of either English or French is essential for all team members.

Eligible ventures must already be beyond the conceptual phase, having reached at least the prototype or minimum viable product (MVP) stage. Projects that are still in the early ideation phase will not be considered. Additionally, participating startups must demonstrate a clear commitment to climate action—whether through mitigation strategies, adaptation solutions, or a combination of both.

Selected participants will benefit from a tailored development program designed to enhance their capacity to drive change. The curriculum will focus on sharpening entrepreneurial skills, strengthening business models, and increasing the potential for sustainable local impact. Teams will also have the chance to present their ideas on a prominent stage in front of key climate stakeholders and a global audience.

Winning teams will receive financial support of up to $10,000 to bring their ideas to life in their communities. This funding is aimed at helping young innovators take their solutions from pilot to implementation, accelerating real-world impact in regions that need it most.

By merging modern scientific approaches with indigenous knowledge and traditional practices, the program encourages integrative solutions that are culturally relevant and environmentally effective. Young entrepreneurs will not only learn but also lead, addressing some of Africa’s most urgent climate challenges through bold and creative action.
