The scholarship is designed to cover the living expenses of international recipients, such as food, accommodation, and other costs, during their study, research, artistic, or teaching stay at universities and research institutions in Slovakia. Scholarship holders may seek help from their host institution with accommodation and formalities related to entering and residing in Slovakia, or they can manage these arrangements on their own.

Monthly scholarship amounts are as follows:
- University students at the second level: €620
- PhD students: €1,025
- University teachers/researchers/artists: €1,470

To apply for a study permit in Slovakia, a person must be a foreign national, a master's student, a student at a university outside of Slovakia, or someone who has finished at least 2.5 years of college. In order to be eligible for academic mobility to study in Slovakia, they must also be accepted by a public, private, or state higher education institution and be on a study stay in Slovakia during their higher education outside of Slovakia. Furthermore, applicants must be international university instructors, researchers, and artists who have been invited by an organisation with a current certificate of eligibility for research and development—rather than a commercial company—to teach, research, or perform in Slovakia.
