Fully Funded to Ireland : Apply for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) programme offers support to outstanding international students who wish to pursue studies at NFQ levels 9 or 10 (master’s, postgraduate diploma, or PhD) in Ireland.

The scholarship is funded by the Government of Ireland in collaboration with Irish higher education institutions (HEIs) and is administered by the Higher Education Authority. Each year, 60 scholarships are awarded for one year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10.

How to apply
Applicants should carefully review the call documentation to confirm their eligibility before submitting an application via the online portal. Two references must be uploaded by the applicants through the portal. It is recommended to submit applications well in advance of the deadline to avoid technical issues. Once the deadline has passed, applications cannot be accepted or altered.

Assessment process
Applicants will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • A strong academic record
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities, such as humanitarian work, politics, arts, or sports
  • A clear rationale for studying in Ireland, demonstrating how the scholarship aligns with long-term goals.

Program Benefits
The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship provides a stipend of €10,000 for one year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10. Awardees will also receive a full fee waiver from their host institution for the duration of the scholarship. Successful applicants are expected to begin their studies in September or October 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be domiciled outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. They must apply for admission to an eligible master’s, postgraduate diploma, or PhD programme at a participating higher education institution according to that institution’s admission procedures. Applicants must have either a conditional or final offer of admission to the programme when applying for the scholarship, and they will need to submit a copy of the offer. Those who have previously held a GOI-IES scholarship are ineligible to apply, as are Russian and Belarusian nationals due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
