FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Global Health Corps Africa Leadership Accelerator Fellowship 2025/26 for young public health leaders in Africa
Applications are now being accepted for the 2025/2026 cohort of the Africa Leadership Accelerator Fellowship, a new initiative from Global Health Corps (GHC). This transformative 9-month program, combining virtual and in-person learning, is crafted to enhance the leadership and management abilities of early to mid-career public health professionals between the ages of 21 and 35, working across various regions of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The fellowship is designed for emerging leaders in the public health sector who demonstrate strong potential and are committed to advancing both personally and professionally. GHC encourages applications from individuals employed in diverse sectors including local health departments, governmental agencies, academic institutions, grassroots organizations, NGOs, and the private sector. Public health in this context is interpreted broadly, embracing a wide range of roles and disciplines.
This unique learning experience follows a hybrid model that integrates online learning with in-person engagements. Participation in the fellowship is fully funded by Global Health Corps, meaning that all virtual sessions, transportation for in-person gatherings, accommodation, and meals during retreats are provided at no cost to participants. Fellows should anticipate committing 6 to 8 hours each month to make the most of the program.
Completion of the fellowship marks the beginning of a lifelong journey. Graduates become part of GHC’s expansive community of over 1,200 fellows around the world, with continued access to leadership development opportunities through an active alumni network. The program, running from September through May, requires full attendance and engagement in all components, including leadership workshops, collaborative projects, executive coaching, retreats, and mentorship sessions.
To qualify, applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 35 by September 1, 2025, and must hold citizenship in either Uganda, Malawi, Rwanda, or Zambia. Eligible candidates should be employed in a full-time, non-clinical public health role for a minimum of six months at the time of application. They must also be working for a public health organization operating within one of the eligible countries, with official endorsement from their employer supporting their participation. There are no formal academic or training prerequisites required to apply.
