Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 edition of the Global Development Conference, which is extending a special invitation to science journalists. Organized by GlobalDev, a project spearheaded by the Global Development Network (GDN), this opportunity allows selected journalists to participate in the upcoming conference scheduled to take place from October 28 to 30, 2025, in Clermont-Ferrand, France.

GlobalDev is committed to enhancing how researchers engage with the wider public by building their capacity in effective science communication. Through a range of training sessions and publishing opportunities, the initiative supports academics in translating complex research into accessible content. At the 2025 Global Development Conference, journalists chosen for this program will receive full support covering travel and accommodation, along with privileged access to key conference sessions. This year’s theme, “Inclusive Digital Transformation: Social Impacts and Technological Innovations,” will set the stage for thought-provoking conversations and interdisciplinary engagement.

Those selected will join a diverse community of researchers, policymakers, academics, and professionals from around the world, offering a rich environment for learning and exchange. They will also take part in hands-on workshops aimed at strengthening their storytelling skills around multifaceted development issues. Additionally, participants will be invited to contribute to the creation of new training programs that foster collaboration between the scientific and media communities.
