Applications are open for the Tom Queba and Pegasys Scholarships for Social Change, a programme managed by Canon Collins Trust in partnership with the Tom Queba Memorial Fund and Pegasys. This opportunity supports postgraduate study at South African universities, focusing on fields such as justice, education, humanities, arts, sciences and applied sciences, with the aim of empowering emerging leaders to drive social and environmental transformation. The scholarship provides financial assistance of R85,000 per year, available for up to two years of study, and is open to full-time, part-time and distance learning students. Beyond funding, scholars benefit from becoming part of a vibrant network and are expected to participate in annual conferences and professional development events that strengthen their leadership potential and capacity for change.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be black or coloured South African nationals, residing in South Africa and under the age of 34 at the start of their studies. They must hold, or be about to complete, a strong first degree with at least a Second Class Upper Division or equivalent, and must be applying for Honours or Master’s level study at a South African university. Candidates must demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to driving social or environmental change through their chosen field of study.
