Applications are open for Nigerian journalists, editors, podcasters, and photographers interested in exploring labour migration and its impact on national development. They are encouraged to participate if they have experience reporting on migration issues or wish to develop a project on topics such as “japa,” human trafficking, remittances, or brain drain.

Participants will gain a unique opportunity to combine an understanding of migration trends with practical storytelling skills, guided by accomplished Nigerian journalists including Emmanuel Akinwotu (formerly AFP and Guardian, now at NPR), @omoregieosakpolor, and Adejumo Kabir (HumAngle, Premium Times, Diaspora Africa).

During the workshop, attendees will work in groups based on their preferred media format, collaborating to create compelling content. The program is limited to 30 participants, with transportation, lodging, and meals fully provided.

At the conclusion of the workshop, a panel of judges will select the top 7 to 10 projects. Each selected project will receive a grant of one million naira to produce a report, podcast, photo essay, or similar media work. Additionally, winning projects will have the opportunity to be featured in the partner media outlet, @diasporaafrica.
