About the Scholarship

The Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarship was established through the legacy of Justus and Louise van Effen, with the aim of supporting talented international MSc students at TU Delft.

The foundation reflects Justus van Effen’s belief that technological development can play an important role in addressing societal challenges. Through the scholarship, academically outstanding students are given financial support to pursue advanced studies and develop expertise that can contribute to solving global challenges.

Who Is Not Eligible?

The scholarship does not apply to:

• TU Delft bachelor's students, including international students.
• International students applying for a TU Delft MSc who obtained their bachelor's degree at a Dutch university.
• Students who have already started their MSc studies at TU Delft.
• Applicants applying for an International Joint Education Programme rather than a regular two-year MSc programme.

Application Requirements

Applicants seeking scholarship consideration must submit the required documents together with their MSc application.

These include:

• Completed MSc application.
• Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarship application form.
• Two reference letters.
• English language certificate, where required.

Reference letters can either be uploaded as part of the application or requested directly from referees through the application system.

Applicants should ensure that all required scholarship documents are submitted before the deadline because additional documents cannot be added after the MSc application has been submitted.

Scholarship recipients are expected to be notified by TU Delft by the end of March 2027.
