Youth-led groups working on ecosystem restoration now have a new opportunity to secure funding for their projects. The UN Decade Youth Task Force has officially launched its 2026 Micro-Grant Call, created in collaboration with UNEP and FAO to elevate the role of young people in driving the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

This funding round is designed specifically for youth-led organisations that are restoring degraded ecosystems—whether on land, along coastlines, or in urban spaces. The initiative recognizes the crucial role young people play in repairing the planet and aims to provide practical support for projects that create real, measurable environmental impact.

What the Micro-Grants Support

Projects must directly contribute to the restoration or protection of one or more of the following ecosystems:

• Farmlands & Agricultural Landscapes

• Forests

• Freshwater Ecosystems

• Grasslands, Shrublands & Savannahs

• Mountain Ecosystems

• Oceans & Coastal Areas

• Peatlands

• Urban Green Spaces

The programme gives special attention to community-driven work, hands-on restoration, and innovative solutions led by young teams.
