Call for Applications: East Africa Sub-Regional Youth Consultation on Water and Climate
The Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO), with support from the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), is inviting youth-led and youth-focused organisations to apply to participate in the East Africa Sub-Regional Youth Consultation under the African Youth Water and Climate Engagement Initiative (AYWCEI).
The consultation is part of a continent-wide youth advocacy process that will bring together approximately 100–150 young people from across East Africa, including youth advocates, researchers, technical experts, innovators, community organisers, WASH actors, students and young people from communities affected by water insecurity, drought, flooding and inadequate sanitation.
The consultation will provide a platform for young people to share their experiences, evidence and priorities and contribute policy recommendations to the African Youth Water and Climate Position Paper. The position paper will inform youth advocacy at the 2026 United Nations Water Conference and COP32 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2027.
Selected participant organisations will work closely with GAYO Uganda to mobilise participants, support facilitation, coordinate logistics, document consultation outcomes and help create an inclusive and safe engagement process.
Eligibility: Youth-led and youth-focused organisations working on issues related to water, climate change, WASH, environmental sustainability, community development, advocacy, youth empowerment or related areas in East Africa.
Application deadline: Saturday, 15 August 2026.
Interested organisations are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline to be considered for participation in this regional youth consultation.
